Band Member Biographies
Building G - Josh Stern Josh Stern

Vocalist, rhythm guitar, song writer and founding member of Building G. While studying abroad in Tel Aviv, Israel, Josh began playing with the band, Ring of Gyges.

Upon his return to the U.S. he enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and went on later to The University of Arizona where he found himself in a local band called, Detoxing Daryl. Finally, Josh woke up one morning and moved to Austin where he and Hal formed Building G in September of 1999.

Josh loves long walks on the beach, a good romantic comedy, a good cry from time to time and binge drinking Johnny Walker Black through a funnel.

Building G - Hal Wolpo Hal Wolpo

Lead guitarist and founding member of Building G. At eight years old, Hal traded in his G.I.Joes for a guitar. While at Penn State. Hal rocked the music scene in numerous bands including Gracie's Special.

A week after graduating from Penn State, Hal packed up his guitar and moved to Austin to be reunited with his former Ring of Gyges band-mate Josh.

After years of hard work, rumors that he was the other half of Right Said Fred and several Vodka Martini's later, Hal has finally memorized all the guitar parts he's recorded on the album.

Hal is an animal lover and enjoys fur less dogs, kicking people's ass for self defense and cheap beer.

Building G - Joe Barrero Joe Barrero

Bass guitarist for Building G. Joe is a guy who's clearly spent too much time by himself as a child but has adjusted quite well; mostly. He's channeled much of his childhood angst creatively into his guitar and bass playing and has survived the multiple turmoil of past bands and bad hair cuts through overwhelming addiction.

Don't let Joe's corporate image and it's trappings fool you- he's a hard line preppy subversive. Having recently escaped Miami, Florida for Austin, Texas, he's thrilled to be a part of the Austin music scene- although he doesn't think too highly of the radio stations here. "It's no wonder Austin is the Music Capital of the World. The radio here sucks!"

Joe enjoys stop-action violence, stating the obvious in un-obvious ways and drinking Tanqueray and Tonic buffet-style.

Building G - Jason Flenniken Jason Flenniken

The new kid on the block, Jason is the what Ringo was for The Beates- a strange presence. Regardless, he holds the back-beat with some jazz influenced chops and doesn't apologize for high-brow bossa-nova fills.
